We all know buying local keeps money locally and helps local businesses but how often do you think about your purchases?
Spend $20 on June 20 is a concept to raise awareness of what we can do in our own local economies. Our local Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce has been promoting this heavily but I was able to find other locations in North Carolina and New York.
Some area businesses like Cadillac Mountain Sports are having some great promotions to celebrate. Sadly, I’m headed out of town today but I’m putting $20 worth of Hancock County gasoline in my tank before I do.
So please throw down some money locally and let’s see what kind of purchasing power we really have.
“Every new dollars turns over six times. Local purchases, even if a little more money fund your local area, activities, tax base and give you an option to stay local for goods and services. We have a local dairy called Houlton Farms and there is no better milk or products and it always surprises me when locally tat is not the only product purchased. But for a few cents, some folks will make a different selection.”
